Known worldwide as the capital of adventure in Ecuador, Baños de Agua Santa is a small city located between the central Andes and the Amazon of Ecuador, watched from the heights by the imposing Tungurahua volcano whose summit is located at 5,023 meters above the sea level, Baños is undoubtedly a destination that you must go to at least once in your life, the countless adventures and experiences that you will experience here accompanied by incredible and unique landscapes, will make your visit an unforgettable trip.

 

The name of this small town is actually "Baños de Agua Santa" (Holy Water Baths in Spanish), it comes from the famous hydrothermal springs of the area. The streets are full of hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops and tourist agents. The warmth of its people, the colorful streets and houses, the local markets, the adventures and extreme sports and many other characteristics attract thousands of tourists to this city every year.

 

Even though El Tungurahua rises to 5,023 meters, the baths are at an altitude of only 1,820 meters above sea level, and this is one of the factors that make this small city so magical; Built in a wonderful valley with characteristics of jungle, Baños is a valley hidden between huge mountains and volcanoes in the middle of the Andes mountain range, therefore, you can enjoy different experiences that will take you from a climate similar to the tropical one with an Average temperature on the day of a little over 20 C ° until a cooler climate closes in just a few minutes.

 

Getting to Baños is very simple and you can do it with private or public transport, in case you choose the cheapest option, you can get a bus from the town where you are as follows:

 

If you are in Quito: Leaving from the land terminal of Quitumbe south of the city of Quito, the transfer to bathrooms will cost around $ 4 or $ 5 and the journey takes about 3 and a half hours.

 

If you are in Guayaquil: The tour lasts approximately 5 and a half hours and the ticket value is around $ 7.

Canopy Puntzan
This is a truly unique adventure that you can not miss. The Canopy in Puntzan is an outdoor adventure, perfect for the whole family, it is located right at the foot of the hill of Sangay National Park in Baños de Agua Santa.

 

This canopy or also called Tyrolean or Zipline is one of the longest  in Baños, consists of 2,000 meters with 6 routes surrounded by an incredible and beautiful landscape, as well as a waterfall and a river. The duration of the trip will be from 2 to 3 hours approximately.

 


Canyoning
Canyoning is an incredible adventure sport practiced in the canyons or ravines of a river, in which very varied routes can be presented. There are also sections with little water flow and even dry.

 

The adventure allows you to move through the steep terrain of the canyon, which consists of basaltic rocks, small rivers and waterfalls that descend from the pristine water that melts from the Tungurahua volcano.
